The First Shigeru Kawai City of Madrid Piano Competition was held from the 4th to the 7th of April with great success. This contest organized by Kawai Spain in collaboration with EPTA Spain has appointed Ana Guijarro, Honorary President of EPTA Spain, and Alberto Urroz, current EPTA President, as artistic directors. The Competition Final was held in the Sala Manuel de Falla of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid. The jury, chaired by Alberto Urroz, was attended by Hitoshi Kobayashi, Alberto Portugheis, Mauricio Vallina and Luís Pipa. The jury awarded three prizes, being Harrison Herman awarded the First Prize winner and EPTA Award for the best interpretation of a Spanish work of the XVIII century. The final was attended by the President of Kawai, Hirotaka Kawai.
